The Services I offer are -
Option 1:
Certificates Only
For a birth certificate, you will need to provide a
full name and date of birth and, if possible, place of birth. Cost: £10
each certificate. Includes locating the person in the records, obtaining
the certificate, and p&p to you.
For a marriage certificate, you will need to provide
the full name of both parties (if you only have one full name, this may be
sufficient), date of marriage and location. Cost: £10 each certificate.
Includes locating the person in the records, obtaining the certificate, and
p&p to you.
If a search has to be undertaken where exact dates are
not known, the cost will be £15 per certificate.
Payment in advance is required for this service.
Option 2: Starter
Package

To get you started with your family tree, this package
includes one birth or marriage certificate, three census returns and
transcriptions, and a CD plus hard copies.
Cost: £50. |

Option 3: Single Direct Line Family Tree
One line of your family is traced
back to the 1800s. This could be your grandfather, great grandfather and
great-great grandfather. It is usually the male line which is followed, but
you may opt for your mother’s side if you prefer.
Package includes:
- Up to six birth and marriage
certificates.
- Copies of original census
returns.
- Basic transcriptions of census
returns.
- A4 family tree showing direct
line (no siblings)
- PDF copies on CD plus hard
copies of census returns and family tree.
Cost: £140. A deposit of £75
is required, balance on completion before items posted out.
Both father’s and mother’s line
traced back to 1800s as above, cost £240. A deposit of £120 is
required.

Option 4: Single Line
Direct Family Tree Plus

One line of your family is traced back to the 1800s.
This could be your grandfather, great grandfather and great-great
grandfather. It is usually the male line which is followed, but you may opt
for your mother’s side if you prefer. In addition, you will receive a family
tree which includes the located siblings of each direct ancestor.
Package includes:
- Up to six birth and marriage certificates.
- Copies of original census returns.
- Basic transcriptions of census returns.
- A4 family tree showing direct line including
siblings.
- Report on findings
- PDF copies on CD plus hard copies of census returns
and family tree.
Cost: £190. Deposit of £120 required, balance on
completion before items posted out.
Both father’s and mother’s line traced back to 1800s as
above, cost £340. A deposit of £250 is required for this service.

Option 5:
Photographic Service

I can visit Devon (or East Cornwall) graveyards to
locate and photograph graves and churches. You will be sent the images
either electronically by email, or as a CD plus 6"x 4"photographic prints by
post.
Cost: £10 to search for each grave; extra £2 per
grave if at same church. Travelling: 40p per mile, or public transport
costs.
CD with photographs: £3.00 to include p&p. A deposit of
£8 per grave and £2 each extra grave at same church will be required.

Option 6: Devon-based
research
If you would like some additional information about
your family and where they lived, I will visit the relevant record offices
on your behalf to consult documents such as parish registers, electoral
registers, Land Tax Assessments, parish directories and tithe maps.
Cost: £12 per hour. Travelling: 40p per mile, or
public transport costs. A deposit of £20 will be required.
Please telephone or email me so that we can discuss
your requirements and whether this is an appropriate service for you.
Occasionally, I visit London-based record depositories
such as The National Archives or Guildhall Library. If you know of a
document you would like me to consult on your behalf, I can undertake this
for you at £22 per hour. If a special journey to London is undertaken on
your behalf, travelling expenses of 40p per mile and/or public transport
costs will be charged.
Original documents are sometimes difficult to read,
and also may contain anomalies, for example, 1841 census returns can be five
years adrift with actual birth dates. Every effort is made to cross
reference and double check entries by various means, but I cannot be held
responsible for any errors or omissions in the final products.
Gifts
A family tree makes a lovely gift for that special
occasion. If this gift is a last minute decision, I can send you a Gift
Voucher to give to the recipient.
